And it isn’t Apple’s MacWorld Keynote or the brand new slim MacBook Air, but rather snow is the hot Southeast city of Atlanta.

To all of our local metro-Atlanta clientele, please have a wonderful and safe afternoon. Drive safely, be careful, and don’t be afraid to get down and dirty, throwing a snowball or two. It seems like the snow is starting to stick onto roads and pavement so please try to plan tomorrow accordingly.

For those not in Atlanta, feel free to be jealous and join the discussion found here.

As many of you may know Forumstyles will be making another skin. This time we want you to help.

If you would like to see a special feature added to the skin or if you want to make, say a maintitle or something using the colors picked at the end of Palette Poll then please send Ian, Nir, or Patrick a PM including the URL to the image or just your advice.

We will get to all of your PMs and reply to them. Then they will be posted for community chat.

Some things you may want to think about:

  • Maintitles
  • Modifications
  • Header
  • Navigation
  • Lets make this the best skin in the history of InvisionFree.

Just a collection of interesting websites and readings of the day:

    1. Wall-Mart to sell Google Laptops
    2. A rant about websites that play music
    3. The hidden inspiration behind Apple designs?
    4. Make ideas happen
    5. Why Facebook is bad

If you find anything else share it with the community and post it here.

Want to start your own startup one day? It’s simple, fun, and a great way to meet new people. But what does is take to run a forum or a website?

    1. Determination
If you don’t feel you really don’t want to open your website, DON’T! This is a key mistake you don’t want to do. Not only can it give you a bad reputation, but it can also give you low self esteem.

    2. Time
A website wont just launch off like a rocket as soon as you open it. Give it time. Don’t give up after the first week with no activity. Even Google started off slowly, look at them now.

    3. Advertising
You can’t expect your website to get members flowing in without proper advertising. Advertising can be as simple as putting your link in your signature at other forums or it can be as advanced as making commercials. Put your link on everything you make and be proud of it.

    4. Attracting Members
Make products that members will love and continue to use. Don’t re-create the wheel. Make something different and make sure everyone knows YOU made it.

    5. Be Proud!
Be proud of what you create. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s bad. You took the time to do it. They did not. Never be ashamed of what you do.

I compiled some links of other ways to help you start a website:

    1. Forum Managment
    2. Starting Your Startup
    3. How to Start a Startup
    4. Small Business Planner

Good luck starting your website. Hope this helped.

It’s time to try something new to reflect on our great one-of-a-kind community. I took some time to interview one of ForumStyles’s legacies, Liv. She used to be one of our most active members, but she just got back from a nice long vacation. Nonetheless, her photoshop skills are still sharp and I hope everyone has a blast getting to know Liv:

    Nir:
So for those that don’t know you, what makes you special and what keeps you ticking?

    Liv:
I think what makes me special is that I’m just…different. I don’t think I’m like normal girls. I don’t like to think like the stereotypical girl. I’m just free to be myself and be independent and make my own choices. Most girls follow the crowd and shop at American Eagle or Aeropostale or Hollister just to have name brand clothing. (Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE name brand purses, and that’s about it.) I don’t tend that way. I tend towards awesome cheap clothing at Marshall’s or Wal*Mart or Kohl’s. Something that keeps me ticking is music, most definitely. It’s my life, and without it, the world couldn’t keep a beat and lose track of it’s time. (time = tempo). But that’s what keeps me ticking.

    Nir:
So what brings you to forums? More specifically, how did you get into the forumstyles community?

    Liv:
I like to chat a lot with people and meet new people. I’m leery at first but I will open up to those I do feel most comfortable around. I got into the forum styles community from starting my own Harry Potter forum which was popular for a long time, but some people came along and kinda ruined it…so now it’s pretty much gone. BUT I’d use FS for A LOT of my resources and it helped me grasp the concept of CSS and HTML and Graphics SO much easier than any Graphic Imaging class could’ve.

    Nir:
I’m glad we helped you out. But you left us for a while. Did you actually take life over forumstyles?

    Liv:
hahaha. I had a lot of things come up, and then I got sucked into the dreaded myspace (shoot me now). I regret it cause FS was such a nice community and it was nice to come in and ask questions and get many different opinions and responses towards things. I know I got kicked off the mod team cause of what Solar, Chris and I did too Cha0sandSin’s page…but I forget what I had done, but whatever. I guess that’s the past. I regret getting involved in it, and I guess that also kinda ruined the awesomeness for me. I felt like I wasn’t really wanted anymore or trustworthy and i felt bad.

    Nir:
But you’re glad to be back? I mean it’s great to have you back. You really seem to light things up.

    Liv:
Yeah, I’m very glad I’m back.
I’ve been wondering how the forums have been going since my computer’s been broken. My summer anyways was crap and I wish I had been on more cause I would’ve loved to have someone intelligent to talk too. -sigh- Everyone on there are great people to communicate with and work it. I’m glad I lighten things up! hahaha.

    Nir:
heh great. So be honest with me, what do you love most about FS and what do you think we could do better with?

    Liv:
What I love most about FS is the people and the leadership and how everyone FINALLY seems to work together peacefully! And I think what you could do better is, obviously, more activity but that’s always seemed to be down since I’ve been there anyways. I guess just affiliate with other sites and shit. hahaha.

    Nir:
Well thanks a ton for your time. any final words? It’s great to have you back.

    Liv:
It’s good to be back! And I guess all I have to say is that I’m still crazy. =)

Please take the time to give Liv a warm welcome and let us know who should be our next featured member shout-out.
